    Strategic Planning & Business Oversight

Most practices have intentions, not a strategy. This 16-week programme gives partners the structures and tools to move from reactive management to active leadership of their business — and keeps strategic thinking alive after we leave.

Practices don't drift because partners aren't capable.

They drift because operational pressure fills every available hour. Partners talk, broadly agree on a direction, and then return to the inbox. The result: reactive decisions, PCN and ICB demands absorbed without evaluation, and problems found late because no one is watching the right indicators.

This is not a strategy consultancy engagement that produces a document and leaves. It builds the capability and structures to keep strategic thinking alive after the programme ends.

    Who this programme is for

    • Practices without a written strategy, or where the existing plan is more than 18 months old
    • Practices where partners have no regular dedicated time for strategic discussion
    • Practices that feel reactive to PCN and ICB demands rather than confident in navigating them
    • Practices approaching significant change — partnership reconfiguration, premises, merger or succession
    • PCNs wanting to support member practices in developing independent strategic capability

    What the programme delivers

Four outputs your partnership will own

    Practice Strategy Development

A facilitated process that produces a written 8–12 page Practice Strategy, owned by the partners and reviewed annually.

    • Practice vision — where you are trying to be in 3–5 years
    • Three to five strategic priorities that most determine success
    • External landscape: PCN, ICB, demographics, competition
    • Financial and workforce strategy to sustain the vision
    • Risk and assumption mapping

    Business Oversight Framework

A practical structure for ongoing strategic and business governance — templates, agendas and a first review facilitated by PracticeFit™.

    • Monthly management information pack
    • Quarterly strategic review agenda
    • Annual business planning cycle
    • Decision-making framework for the partnership

    PCN & System Navigation Review

A clear summary of the landscape, the practice's position within it, and recommended changes to how the practice engages.

    • What the PCN is accountable for and what it funds
    • Where the practice is absorbing demand without recognition
    • Network DES delivery — contributions and returns
    • ICB, place-based and commissioning relationships
    • Opportunities to influence system direction

    Succession & Continuity Planning

A practical planning document that identifies risks, options and actions for partnership and key-person resilience.

    • Partnership structure — current, planned, known risks
    • Key person dependency mapping
    • Partnership deed review prompts
    • Succession options — internal, external, PCN/federation
    • Continuity planning if a key person leaves suddenly

    Bundled options

Handle it end-to-end, not in five different places

Most practices run QOF, PCN DES, surveys and wellbeing as four separate jobs. We pull them into one delivery rhythm with shared reporting and named owners.

    Operations Core

QOF + PCN DES, run as one programme.

    • QOF assurance: registers, recall, year-end run-in
    • PCN DES: IIF, capacity & access, enhanced access
    • Single quarterly delivery rhythm with named owners
    • One reporting pack — partners, PCN and ICB-ready

Best for: Practices losing time across two contracts that should be one workflow.

    Most chosen

    Operations + Insight

Add staff and patient surveys to the contract delivery.

    • Everything in Operations Core
    • Annual staff survey + quarterly pulse
    • FFT narrative reporting and GPPS commentary
    • Live action log and CQC well-led evidence pack

Best for: Practices that want contract delivery and well-led evidence in one rhythm.

    Whole-Practice Accelerator

All four programmes, sequenced over 12 months.

    • CQC, Patient Access, Wellbeing and Strategic Planning
    • QOF, PCN DES, surveys and patient comms — done for you
    • Quarterly board-ready report across all domains
    • Dedicated programme lead + named associate

Best for: Partnerships that want one supplier, one rhythm and one accountable lead.

    Not sure which bundle fits?

A 30-minute discovery call is enough to map your contracts, pressures and reporting load — and recommend the right scope.
